Getting the data associated with a (known) member

Greetings SSAS-ters,

Specifically, If I know the member (e.g. [DimensionX].[AttributeY].&[46E2]) whose values I am trying to get at, how do I get at that member's actual values.

Generally, this is an org. chart type parent-child hierarchy, and for everyone* (i.e. for each [DimensionX].[AttributeY].currentmember) in the hierarchy, I need to know their top-level manager's name, their 2nd-from-top-level manager's name, and so on.

Syntactically, I'm getting at the currentmember using:

subset(

hierarchize(

ascendants(

[Producer Hierarchy].[Agency Producer Name And Payroll Number - multicolumn].currentmember

) /* )ascendants */

) /* )hierarchize */

,1 /*subset startposition....*/

,1 /*...subset for 1 member in set....*/

) /* )subset */

I'd appreciate any help - thanks in advance!!

Gregg

Please note - I am wanting to SCOPE my result within a CREATE MEMBER CURRENTCUBE.[MEASURES].MyNewMeasure cube calculation, please.|||

In case anyone ever needs the same info, this problem eventually got figured out and solved by using:

ancestor([parent-child-hierarchy], <<numeric expression>>).name

Getting only the first member when isAggregatable=false

Hello,

I am using AS 2005 and trying not to get the "All" member in the cube browser. I changed the value of isAggregatable to false of the highest level in the dimension. than, I change the the AttributeHierarchyEnabled of the children to false (otherwise the cube could not be deployed). than I tried to view the dimension in the cube browser, and I could see only the first member of the dimension. Is there any way to see all the members without the "all" member?

I would appreciate any help!

You can change the "IsAggretable" property of the highest level in your user defined hierarchy to False and get what you are looking for as long as you do not have any other attributes related to the highest level attribute. Instead of setting the "AttributeHierarchyEnabled" property to false, try removing the relationships for these attributes to the highest level attribute.

I tried that, and it didn't help. I have noticed that if i have one dimension in the cube, than it works fine - but My situation is that I have 2 dimensions, the first one is related to a table and the second one is related to a copy view of the same table. The measure of the cube is related to a table that describes links between the entities of the first table (the link table is the fact table of the cube). I have noticed that when I use the cube browser, I can only see members that are linked (according to the link table) to the first member of the first table.

I hope my situation is clear enough for you to help me..

Thanks!

Liat,

Unfortunately I am a bit confused as to what you are working with. It sounds like one of your dimensions is not releated to the measure group in your cube, is this correct? When you look at the "Dimension Usage" tab in the cube editor are both of your dimensions related to your measure group? Which of the two dimensions are you trying to hide the All Member of? It would probably help if you sent me a copy of your project files to my email address: spontello@.proclarity.com
